School district serving up free lunches for area youth

It is often said that there's no such thing as a free lunch. And while that expression may be true a majority of the time, that’s just not the case this time of year at the Punxsutawney Area High School, where the free lunch program is offered.

Denise Geist, Punxsutawney Area School District cafeteria supervisor, said that the district started the free summer food program on June 6, and they will be serving the lunches to local youngsters through Aug. 24.

She said they are open and serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the PAHS cafeteria.
