Luthersburg man arrested, charged with homicide

Staff Writer

DUBOIS — On Thursday afternoon, DuBois City Police issued a statement in regard to a woman's death eight months ago, saying that a Luthersburg man has been charged with homicide and causing or aiding suicide, among other charges, in the incident.

Police said after an eight-month investigation, the department, in conjunction with the Clearfield County District Attorney's Office, Brian Lee Schaffer, 45, of Luthersburg, was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal homicide, causing or aiding suicide, involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance.

These charges stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 2 on Grant Street in the City of DuBois, when Schaffer's estranged girlfriend, 32-year-old Ameyanna Sanchez of DuBois, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Schaffer was taken to Clearfield County Jail for arraignment.

The DuBois City Police Department was assisted by District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr., Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris, DuBois EMS and the Lehigh Valley Hospital of Allentown.
