Jeff Tech places in ProStart culinary competition

Jeff Tech students recently competed in the National Restaurant Association Pennsylvania ProStart Competition held in State College, and the school is proud to have a team compete and place first in the management competition. This part of the competition challenges the management team to develop a business proposal based on a given scenario. Once the proposal is presented to a panel of industry judges, the team has to use its problem-solving skills to quickly resolve challenges that managers would handle every day. Jeff Tech said it was also proud to have a team compete and place third in the culinary competition. The culinary team was challenged with preparing a three-course meal in 60 minutes. They were only permitted to use two butane burners and were judged on taste, skill, teamwork, safety and sanitation. The students were coached and advised by instructor Larry Galluzzi. The management team will now be traveling to the National ProStart Invitational Competition in Providence, Rhode Island, to be held April 27-29.
