It's a day when those with special needs will gather for a morning of fun and excitement.

This Wednesday, May 4, kids will come from areas such as Brockway, Brookville, DuBois, Punxsutawney, Fayette Resources, Soaring Heights Academy, NHS High Point and New Story to take part in the 37th Annual Special Olympics.

The event was started by the DuBois/Jefferson County Special Olympics, which had its first track and field meet in 1980. Local resident Frank Hetrick has been a part of Special Olympics since the beginning.
