House on Ridge Avenue struck by truck

There were no injuries reported when a small truck struck a house at 410 Ridge Ave., Punxsutawney, at 8:17 p.m. on Wednesday. According to Punxsutawney Borough Police, a Dodge Dakota truck, driven by Steven Schmitt, Greensburg, was traveling south on Route 119 when he lost control on the wet roadway and struck the house. Police said there were no injuries, but the house appeared to have moved approximately six inches off its foundation due to the crash. Police were assisted at the scene by the Punxsutawney Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS and Rebuck's South Side Service. Meanwhile, police investigated a pedestrian accident that occurred at 616 West Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, across from SS.C.D. According to police, two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on West Mahoning Street. Police said the driver allegedly did not immediately stop following the impact until he was further down the road. Both pedestrians were transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS. No further details were available at Spirit press time.
