Convincing in the clutch: Lady Chucks win D-9 title

On Friday afternoon at the new softball facility in DuBois, Heindl Field, the top-seeded Lady Chucks softball team put together an old-fashioned complete-team effort to run all over second-seeded St. Marys for a 10-0, five-inning victory to earn the AAAA District 9 championship. After the game — which saw Punxsy’s offense pour it on and also saw senior pitcher Kylee Lingenfelter strike out 15 of the 15 Lady Dutch to be retired — members of the team and the coaching staff donned their medals and their biggest smiles to pose for a photo with their plaque. After an idle week, the Lady Chucks will play next in the PIAA state tournament.
