Punxsy cross country program honors seniors before thunder postpones meet

All of Tuesday's events at Punxsutawney Area High School were postponed on Tuesday, as thunder could be heard in the area throughout the evening. However, prior to the postponement, the cross country program honored its senior members with a ceremony.

On Monday, the Punxsy girls’ golf team traveled to St. Marys for the District 9 championships and returned home with a collection of hardware, as the Lady Chucks won the team title as well as seeing Brianna Hoover claim title of low medalist and Kylee Shoemaker finish third.

On Monday, the Punxsy boys’ golf team traveled to Brookville’s Pinecrest Country Club, and the Punxsy squad returned home with the District 9 AA team title, narrowly defeating Clarion-Limestone with a team score of 349.

After the threat of a storm postponed Friday night's varsity football game between Punxsy and Kane on Friday night, the Chucks made the trip to Kane for a Saturday afternoon tilt, with the home team -- on its homecoming night -- coming away with a 22-0 victory.
