H. Geraldine "Jerry" Pifer, 86

H. Geraldine "Jerry" Pifer, 86, formerly of Big Run, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Mulberry Square Eldercare.

She was born on July 29, 1928, in Sykesville, a daughter of the late Grover C. and Ethel Wilma (Daisher) Kramer.

On June 26, 1947, she married Delbert Franklin Pifer. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2008.

She was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ.

Jerry and her husband owned and operated Pifer's Sterling Service Station in Big Run.

Ruth Eleanor Adamson, 94

Ruth Eleanor Adamson, 94, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born on April 24, 1920, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of Axel Theodore and Anna Mary (Jones) Nelson.

Mrs. Adamson graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School.

She married Myron J. Hutchins in 1941, who preceded her in death. She subsequently married Ralph Edward Adamson, who was a U.S. Navy veteran. He preceded her in death, as well. Ralph was more than just her husband. He was her companion, a devoted father and her best friend. Ralph was a good man who was loved by many.

Mary L. Wright, 74

Mary L. Wright, 74, of Mahaffey, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Wright was born April 2, 1940, in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Rowles) Price.

She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Wright of Mahaffey.

She loved gardening, flowers and being a grandmother and homemaker.

Josephine Gaffney, 81

Josephine Gaffney, 81, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, Pa.

Born May 22, 1933, in Rossiter, Indiana County, she was the daughter of the late Blair and Bessie Hawthorne Hawk. She was married to the late Thomas Gaffney Sr.

Josephine retired after being a home care aide for over 25 years. She attended the First Church of God in Punxsutawney.

Mary Margaret Brink, 81

Mary Margaret Brink, 81, of Rossiter, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

She was born Feb. 8, 1933, in DeLancey (Adrian), a daughter of the late Nicholas Midock and Mary (Brudnock) Midock.

She was Catholic by faith and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.

On Aug. 6, 1955, she married her husband, Alexander William “Bill” Brink. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 2001.

Mary loved to cook, bake and spend time gardening.

Rosalie "Rose" A. Astorino, 76

Rosalie "Rose" A. Astorino, 76, of Walston, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.

Miss Astorino was born March 6, 1938, in Walston, a daughter of the late Charles and Angelina (Adams) Astorino.

She was a lifetime resident of Walston and a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she served as sacristan for many years and was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Elva Jane Cameron, 83

Elva Jane Cameron, 83, of Rossiter, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at her home.

Mrs. Cameron was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Robert and Elva (McCarty) Mallory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Cameron.

Elva was a member of the Steffey United Methodist Church.

Her lifelong career was as a bus driver for Cameron Bus Company, and she was the co-owner of Cameron Farms. She was an excellent cook and loved her flowers, gardening and her favorite cats, Pandy, Butterscotch, Muffy and Woody.

Rev. E. Earl Anderson, 86

January 21, 2015

The Rev. E. Earl Anderson, 86, of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Sewickley, Pa., died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015.

He was born in Kenora, Ontario, Canada, on May 24, 1928, the fifth child of Swedish immigrants Bengt Anderson and Emma Kristina Berguson.

Earl was a respected pastor and community leader. He touched many lives, teaching in a positive, nurturing and oftentimes humorous way.

Robert “John” McIntyre, 57

Robert “John” McIntyre, 57, of Jefferson St., Falls Creek, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Christ the King Manor.

Born on April 6, 1957, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late Charles and Joan (Dawson) McIntyre.

He served in the United States Army.

John had worked at Airco-Speer Carbon in Punxsy for many years. Recently, he worked for Dworsky’s Environmental Services.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 965 in Falls Creek, The Olympic Athletic Club, and enjoyed fishing and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
