Dollie Elizabeth Smith Barnett, 90, gently passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Twinbrook Medical Center.
Dollie was born April 23, 1923, in Grange, Pa., the daughter of the late Allene B. and Harry J. Smith.
She lived her entire life in the Punxsutawney area until she moved to Erie in 2001.
Dollie was always known as a very â€śsweet ladyâ€ť who extended kindness and love to everyone. She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched over the years.
Besides being a housewife, Dollie worked with her husband in their garage, Barnettâ€™s Auto Repair, in Grange, Pa.
Gary Daniel Douthitt, 36, of Mahaffey, Pa., died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney.
The son of Dennis Gary Douthitt and the late Elaine Marie (Rorabaugh) Douthitt, he was born on Feb. 19, 1978, in Punxsutawney.
Gary earned an associateâ€™s degree in HVAC from Penn Tech.
He was a self-employed farmer who raised beef cattle.
He had also been employed at Rorabaugh Lumber Company in Burnside, Pa.
Garyâ€™s main focus in life was his family. He loved spending time with his wife, Sara, and his son, Ethan.
Thomas Jay Gaul, 82, Luthersburg, formerly of the Paradise area, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Ridgeview Elder Care.
He was born July 27, 1931, in Helvetia, a son of the late Harmon and Bessie Galentine Gaul.
He was married to Grace Lucille Miller Gaul, who preceded him in death.
He was a truck driver for Agway for 27 years, then Sky-Haven Coal for 10 years.
He enjoyed antique tractors, gardening and selling at local Farmers
He resided in Paradise area more than 40 years before moving to Georgia, then to Luthersburg.
Michael Matthew Burba, 92, of Arcadia, Pa., died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney.
The son of the late Joseph and Stefkia (Sadowniczak) Burba, he was born on Sept. 29, 1921, in Arcadia, in the same home where he resided all of his life.
Mike was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and attended the Glen Campbell parish site.
David G. â€śChipâ€ť Wonderling, 63, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Brookville Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1950, in Brookville, a son of the late Gerald David and Helen (Espy) Wonderling.
On July 9, 1971, he married the former Rosemary Battaglia. She survives.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
â€śChipâ€ť retired in 2001 after 31 years as a foreman for Brockway Glass.
After retirement, Chip was also the driver for the Laurel Laser & Surgery Center.
Doree H. Long, 86, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born Dec. 7, 1927, in Coolspring, Pa., the daughter of the late David R. and Florence (Lingenfelter) Hetrick.
She graduated third in her class from Punxsutawney High School in 1945.
She married John E. (Jack) Long of Punxsutawney on June 18, 1951.
She worked as a legal secretary for Jesse P. Long, Attorney at Law, for 59 years before her retirement.
James Edward Gearhart, 87, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Christ the King Manor.
He was born April 13, 1926, in Luthersburg, a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Alsbaugh) Gearhart.
Mr. Gearhart was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II.
He previously worked in assembly for General Motors, drove piggyback trucks and drove horses across the U.S.
He enjoyed bowling, going tobogganing and being with his family.
Elizabeth M. McGlumphy, 84, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at her home.
Mrs. McGlumphy was born Feb. 11, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sevistock) Wanchick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. McGlumphy.
Elizabeth was Byzantine by faith.
She loved gardening and time with her family.
She is survived by a son, William J. McGlumphy and wife Melissa of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Adam Dotts and wife Brittany and Tyler Dotts; and one great-grandchild, Coy Dotts.
Mary L. Coon, 77, of Smicksburg, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Coon was born June 26, 1936, in Indiana, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert T. and Zelda (Kaufman) Schrecongost.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Coon.
Mary was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church in Marion Center.
She enjoyed bowling, reading, spending time with her family and her grandpuppy â€śCookie.â€ť
She is survived by one son, Tom Coon and wife Leslie of Rochester Mills;
Martha Lucille â€śLucyâ€ť Stephanic, 82, of Rochester Mills, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Jackson Township, a daughter of the late Raymond U. and Violet M. Schrack.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stephanic, who passed away in 1997; a brother, Raymond G. Schrack; and sisters Elizabeth Stephens and Evelyn â€śPeepâ€ť Clouser.
