Theodore Meko, 92

Theodore Meko, 92, Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born Oct. 22, 1919, in DeLancey, a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Sivanich) Meko.

He was a veteran of the National Guard since 1940 and the U.S. Army, having served during World War II with the 190 Field Artillery, Battery B.

He was a member of the St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church and the Punxsutawney Eagles.

May 11, 1946, he married Elizabeth E. "Eileen" (Beggs) Meko, who survives, originally of Larne, United Kingdom.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons; Theodore Nelson Meko and wife Marilyn of West Virginia and David Michael Meko and wife Linda of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Maureen Elizabeth Meko and Kathleen Anne Meko, both of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Michelle Frankhauser, Beth Ann Meko, Matthew D. Meko and Camron T. Meko; a great-grandchild, Bryson Frankhauser; a brother, Michael P. Meko and wife Helen of Punxsutawney; three sisters, Martha Hostenski of Maryland, Helen Skarbek of Reynoldsville and Kay Gulish and husband George of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Baranick.

Arrangements and services are private for the family and under direction of the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
