On Saturday afternoon in Berwick, Punxsy's Junior League softball All-Stars took on Kingston/Forty Fort in the winners' bracket final of the state tournament, and the game proved to be quite a contest. In the end, though, Kingston/Forty Fort did enough to eke out a 3-2 win and earn a spot in the championships on Sunday.

Punxsy will now play in the knockout round finals on Sunday at noon for the chance to battle back through and beat the top seed twice Sunday afternoon.

Sarah Weaver led Punxsy at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Bella Martino had a double, a single and an RBI, and Madi Shiock belted a double as well. Riley Presloid had an RBI single, and Amy Poole and Kendal Johnston each had one hit. Johnston pitched all six innings for Punxsy, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a walk and striking out 10.

For Kingston/Forty Fort, Ali Keener was 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, with Julia Frank, Sara Hoskins and Jess Skladzien all singling once. Skladzien pitched seven frames, allowing the two runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out six.
