Robert V. Stiteler, 86

Robert V. Stiteler, 86, of Smicksburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mr. Stiteler was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Smicksburg, a son of the late Virgil Stiteler and Ruth Ann (McClelland) Stiteler.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Stiteler was a brakeman for the B&O Railroad before retirement.

He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Smicksburg and a member of the Dayton American Legion. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, gardening, hunting and fishing.

On Sept. 2, 1950, he married his loving wife, Natalie A. “Ann” (Niel) Stiteler, of Smicksburg who survives.

In addition to his wife Ann, Robert is survived by a son, Gregory N. Stiteler and wife Roxanne of Smicksburg; a daughter, Linda R. Bingaman of Punxsutawney; one brother, Kenneth Stiteler and wife Mildred of Smicksburg; three sisters, Ruth Bussard and husband Paul of Dayton, Virginia Seger of Juneau, Barb Sutter of Rossiter; seven grandchildren, Leonard Shrecengost, Jennifer Altman, Elizabeth McKain, Niel Stiteler, Dustin Bingaman, Fallon Stiteler and Alexander McKain; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Karen L. McKain; three brothers, Walter, Malvern and Keith Stiteler; and two sisters, Dorothy Stiteler and Janet Seger.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Smicksburg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the church, with Pastor Arlene Schweitzer officiating.

Private interment will follow at Smicksburg Cemetery.
