Red Cross to hold memorial blood drive Friday at S.S.C.D. in honor of Joseph Rougeux

July 23, 2013

JOSEPH ROUGEUX

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The American Red Cross is holding a special blood drive this Friday in memory of Joseph Rougeux.

In 1998, Rougeux was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.

In 2005, he passed away from a heart attack but was cancer free.

During his treatment, Rougeux had numerous blood transfusions and knew the importance of blood donation.

He was a dedicated Red Cross volunteer and donor who had been recorded as a 24-gallon blood donor.

His wife and children sponsor this blood drive to honor him and to bring awareness to the need for blood donations.

The drive will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the Saints Cosmas and Damian Church cafeteria, located at 205 Chestnut St. in Punxsutawney.

To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-REDCROSS or visit redrossblood.org and enter the following sponsor code: Punxy.

For more information, contact Pat Rougeux at 938-4464.
