Raymond L. Spencer, Sr., 63, of Mayport, died suddenly on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on March 8, 1950, in Pittsburgh, the son of Samuel C. and Margaret E. (Walters) Spencer, Sr.

He married Barbara J. (Bowman) on Oct. 30, 1976, and she survives.

Raymond worked for Crawford Furniture in Fairmount City.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Spencer of Mayport; three daughters, Joanna Snyder and husband Ronald of Fairmount City, Maggie Bashline and husband Norm of Mayport and Samantha Goodman of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Blake, Cameron and Abby Downs, Kassie and Buddha Bashline and Barbie and Sosa Goodman; a sister, Marlene Reesman of Dayton; and a brother, Samuel C. Spencer, Jr. and wife Marsha of Clarion.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a son, Raymond L. Spencer, Jr.; and a sister, Marie Spencer.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating.

Interment will be at the Urey Cemetery, Banks Township, Indiana County.
