PSP-DuBois releases identities in double fatal Clearfield Co. accident

UNION TOWNSHIP — DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police released the names of two drivers who were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Monday at 12:45 p.m., a half mile west of Mountain Extreme, Inc., in Union Township, Clearfield County.

Police said a 1996 Saturn driven by Jeffrey D. Hoffman, 35, of Dauphin, Pa., was traveling west on State Route 322, and a 2011 Mini Cooper driven by Joyce D. Morse, 62, of DuBois, was traveling east.

For undetermined reasons, the report said, Hoffman’s Saturn was traveling in the eastbound lane, and the two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and were pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two minor children who were passengers riding in Morse’s vehicle, and both were flown from the scene by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injuries.
Both vehicles suffered severe damage and were towed from the scene by Zimmerman’s towing.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
