PUNXSUTAWNEY — Tuesday's preliminary hearing for Lisa M. Saldana, 51, of Wayne Road in Punxsutawney, which was scheduled for 1:30 p.m., was waived, and jury selection has been scheduled for Jan. 12, 2015.

Saldana was arrested in the early morning hours of May 7, 2014, at her residence and was arraigned by District Judge Douglas Chambers, with bond being set at $5,000,000 straight cash.

She remains incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail, with bail remaining at the same amount.

Saldana's charges include one felony count of corrupt organizations; 50 felony counts of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities; one felony count of manufacture, deliver or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; one felony count of knowingly or intentionally manufacturing, distributing or possessing with intent to distribute, or possession of a designer drug; and five misdemeanor counts of prohibited acts.

All charges were waived for court.

In the affidavit issued upon Saldana's arrest, officials from the Fayette County District Attorney's Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, said Saldana "enhanced and furthered the illegal heroin market in Southwest Pennsylvania."

Saldana is being represented by the Law Offices of Patrick J. Thomassey in Monroeville.
