Police contracts approved at special council meeting

PUNXSUTAWNEY— The Punxsutawney Borough Council held a special meeting on Monday evening, to discuss a few important items on the agenda.

Most notably, Borough Police Chief Tom Fedigan's contract was approved after much discussion. The contract will be presented to Fedigan as soon as possible.

In other business:

• The nomination of two new Civil Service Commission members. Steve Story and Bill Spencer were nominated, and the motion was approved.

• Larry Chenoga, council president, said that he would like Officer Matt Conrad, who has been on a probation period, to be hired full-time
on Jan. 13, 2014, when his probation period ends. Council voted and approved the request.

• The new police agreement between the borough and the union was approved.

• A request from Roberta Dinsmore to join the Zoning Board was approved.
