M. Elizabeth “Libby” Esposito

M. Elizabeth “Libby” Esposito, of State College, formerly of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at The Fairways at Brookline in State College.

A daughter of the late John B. and Margaret Duff Anibaldi, she was born in Punxsutawney.

Mrs. Esposito was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School.

Libby was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church.

She was a long-time dispatcher for Citizens’ Ambulance Service, prior to 911, and when Bon-Ton opened, she was a sales associate in the housewares department.

Libby volunteered for Meals On Wheels and was active in the annual membership drive for Citizens’ Ambulance Service.

Mrs. Esposito enjoyed gardening and traveling, but her main focus in life was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Betsy Esposito of State College, Jerry Esposito and wife Karen of Shelburne, Vt., John Esposito and wife Chantel of Nashville, Tenn., and Patrick Esposito, of Apollo; a daughter-in-law, Lucinda (Sommer) Esposito, of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Scott Hitchings and wife Keshia, David Hitchings and partner Rachel Bowen, Andrew Esposito, Jessica Esposito, Johnny Esposito and Isabella Esposito; two great-grandchildren, Tristan Hitchings and Jamison Hitchings; a sister-in-law, Virginia Esposito, of Punxsutawney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Esposito, whom she married in 1946; a son, Jeffrey Esposito; a daughter, Janis L. Hitchings; two brothers, Alton Anibaldi and Robert Anibaldi; and a sister, Dorothy Uhle.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., Indiana.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church with Fr. William J. Kiel as celebrant.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Jerry and Libby Esposito Memorial Scholarship Fund (501-C3), P.O. Box 237, 805 Hospital RD., Indiana, PA 15701.
