YORK — Punxsy senior boys’ golfer Willie Hoover took to the course at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York, Pa., on Monday for the first of two rounds at the PIAA State Golf Championships. Competing with 35 other AA boys’ golfers at the championships, Hoover found himself in the top third of the field at day’s end, with his score of 78, seven strokes over par, placing him in a tie for 11th place with Riverside’s Skyler Fox. Hoover birdied the par-three eighth hole and the par-four 16th hole and recorded seven pars, finishing three-over on the front nine and four-over on the back.
