Gretchen Irene Pattison, 73

Gretchen Irene Pattison, 73, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Sept. 9, 1940, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Ashael and Mary (Welsh) Pattison.

Ms. Pattison was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church and was active and involved with the church events and functions.

Gretchen had previously worked at Prammco/Sportswear, Hoffman Diamond Products, Brookville Glove Factory and, lastly, as a lunch monitor at West End and Longview Elementary schools.

She lived her life devoted to God, her family and friends.

Gretchen was present and influential in the lives of many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one sister, Barbara P. Blose of Punxsutawney; 11 nieces and nephews, Melvin Mitchell of Kentucky, Mary Ann Himes-Fields of Virginia, Maggie Montana of Fryburg, Pa., Michele Hetrick of Brookville, Mark Mitchell of South Carolina, Matt Mitchell of Knox, Pa., Deborah Mumper of Punxsutawney, Mona Sarrichio of Georgia, Gwen Miller of Punxsutawney, Kathy Barnard of Greensburg, Pa., and Doug Blose of North Carolina; 23 great-nieces and nephews; and 18 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Robert Pattison; and one sister, Mary Mitchell.

Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Ms. Pattison's memory to SS.C.D. School or to the American Cancer Society.
