Gladys Evelyn Gaston, 72

Gladys Evelyn Gaston, 72, of Punxsutawney, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at home with her loving family.

She was born July 8, 1941, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Forrest Clinton and Leatha Luella (Vasbinder) Milliron.

On May 16, 1959, she married Lawrence Ray "Amos" Gaston. He survives.

Gladys worked as a housekeeper at Mulberry Square for 20 years.

Her pride and joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her two favorite cats, Toby and Jasper.

She also enjoyed gardening at "Gaston Gardens," shopping, cleaning, traveling, playing Bingo and a little gambling at Salamanca, N.Y.

She was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Lawrence R. Gaston, Jr. "Buck" and wife Robin of Apollo Beach, Fla., Sharon Seger and husband Calvin of Punxsutawney, Sally Shields and husband Clint of Rochester Mills, and Dr. Michelle Gaston of Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren, Justin Gaston and wife Colleen, Jodi Leppla and husband A. J., Jennifer Maxin and husband Rick, Chad Seger, Joshua Shields and wife Melissa and Adam Shields and wife Courtney; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lois Markert and husband Sam of Ridgway, Phyllis Morgan and husband Chuck of Utah, Janice Parkinson of Ohio, and Paula Devlin of Ohio; and three brothers, Lester Milliron of Punxsutawney, Frank Milliron of Ohio, and Lawrence Milliron and wife Nancy of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Forrest "Skip" Milliron; and one sister, Brenda Watson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Gaston's memory to Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
