Staff Writer

At 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, Punxsutawney firefighters were called to a fire at the rear of the Wendy's parking lot at 212 Hampton Ave. in Punxsutawney. The fire was spotted by a passerby when a tree in the back parking lot on the other side of the fence was on fire adjacent to the flood control on the Mahoning Creek. The fire was quickly extinguished, with the tree being the only thing damaged. Punxsutawney Fire Department Chief D. Matthew Powell said they are unsure of the cause and that there will be no further investigation. (Photos by Larry McGuire/The Punxsutawney Spirit)
