Erma M. Astorino, 78

Erma M. Astorino, 78, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Oaks) Woods.

On Feb. 8, 1956, she married John Anthony Astorino. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2001.

She was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Walston.

She was also a former member of the Rosary Altar Society.

Erma enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting and the daily activities at the Punxsy Senior Center.

Surviving relatives include three children, Mary Margaret Smith and husband David, Tina Astorino, and John Astorino and wife Holly, all of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren, Nicole Long and husband Dustin, Shayna Smith, Jacob Shick, Stephanie Shick and fiancé Chris Korney, Maria Temchulla and husband Josh, and Jenna Davis and husband Kevin; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Jessa, Ayden, Landan and Paxton; a brother, Art Woods of Rossiter; and Delores Rowan of DuBois and Helen Yeager of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Ruth Carnahan; and three brothers, Delmont, Clayton and John Woods.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Walston, officiated by Monsignor Riccardo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
