Charles M. Westover, 63

Charles M. Westover, 63, Burnside, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Westover, a son of the late Arthur M. and Luetta C. (Dixon) Westover.

He was married to Barbra (Bouch) Westover, who survives, of Burnside.

Mr. Westover was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War.

For 27 years, he worked for Northern Cambria Fuel and also for Shad Spencer, a job which he truly enjoyed.

Mr. Westover was the fire chief for Sentry Volunteer Fire Company in Burnside for 17 years, and he loved Kettle Creek, camping and fishing. He was known for his great sense of humor and was lovingly known as “Plaid Pappy” by his granddaughters.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Tracey Hanwell and husband Daniel of Fishing Creek Valley; a brother, Edward Westover of Burnside; three sisters, Patricia Westover of Punxsutawney, Colleen Riddle and husband James of Indiana and Denise Bouch and husband Thomas of Mahaffey; two granddaughters, Jessica and Cindy Hanwell; his good friend, Kenneth Farrell of Northern Cambria; a brother-in-law, Miles Bouch and wife Beverly of Mahaffey; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Waldron Funeral Home, Mahaffey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donation’s may be made in Mr. Westover’s name to the Sentry Volunteer Fire Company in Burnside.
