Alfred P. “Al” Barletta, 85

Alfred P. “Al” Barletta, 85, formerly of Soldier, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in South Carolina, at his daughter’s house where he made his home, after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 28, 1928, in Soldier, the son of Dominic and Caroline (Longo) Barletta.

He married Lois (Deemer) Barletta, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Barletta was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He enjoyed crossword and Sudoku puzzles and baking.

He is survived by his four children, Dr. Daniel and wife Nancy Barletta of Greece, N.Y., Donald Barletta of Springville, N.Y., Nancy Barletta of West Seneca, N.Y., and Mrs. Chet (Carolyn) Ogrodnik of Ladson, S.C.; two brothers, William and wife Connie Barletta of Seneca, Pa., and Robert and wife Doris Barletta of Jackson, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Richard
Barletta.

A public viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at The Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sykesville with Fr. Richard Tomasone officiating.

Burial will follow at the A.B.V.M. Church Cemetery.

Military services will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
